The Jordan 5 Low “Alternate ’90” Is The Second “Alternate” Sneaker To Arrive

The last time the Air Jordan 5 Low made an appearance on retail shelves was back in 2007. Last year, several never-before-seen Chicago Bulls-inspired Air Jordan iterations were introduced by Jordan Brand as a part of their “Alternate Collection,” which had never made it past the sample stage. The Air Jordan 5 Low “Alternate ’90” is one of them and it marks the arrival of this low-cut silhouette after quite a long time. In fact, the date for the Jordan releases 2016 of the Air Jordan 5 Low “Alternate ’90” has finally arrived, so it is no longer just a sample.

Air-Jordan-5-Low-Alternate-90-2Since Jordan Brand’s “Alternate Collection” draws inspiration from the Chicago Bulls, all of the three sneakers that are included in it are in varying renditions of the classic “Bred” color scheme. The Air Jordan 4 from the collection is the one that stands out the most because unlike the other two, its tumbled leather upper is in clean White rather than ominous Black. As for the Air Jordan 5 “Alternate ’90,” it actually was a Player Exclusive pair back in the 90s that Jordan Brand had crafted for Derek Anderson, who used to be the guard and small forward of the Cleveland Cavaliers.

The nubuck upper of this “Alternate ’90” colorway is dressed up almost entirely in Black, while the midsole is also covered in the same ominous hue. To complete the “Bred” look that is inspired by the Bulls, bright Red makes an appearance over the lining, shark teeth pattern and the translucent outsole. 3M cement grey can also be spotted on this sneaker, specifically over the front of the tongue, which is also adorned with a bright Red Jumpman logo just like the one featured at the back on the heel.

Air-Jordan-5-Low-Alternate-90-3The Air Jordan 5 Low “Alternate ’90” is comparable to the “Midnight Navy” rendition of the regular model that had hit the shelves last year. Nonetheless, now that the Jordan releases 2016 of this sneaker has taken place on January 30th, Jordanheads can go ahead and spend $175 to cop a pair.
