It was back in November 2015 when news surfaced about Jordan Brand’s plan to dress up the low-top form of the Air Jordan 5 in the classic “Fire Red” colorway that debuted on the regular cut of the silhouette. Even the apparently scheduled date had been revealed last year and quite accurately, the Air Jordan 5 Low “Fire Red” hit the shelves just recently on March 12th and was available for $170. However, Jordanheads are likely aware by now that a far more captivating and inspiring rendition of the Air Jordan 5 Low is on its way, which is apparently designed by and named after Neymar.
The Air Jordan 5 “Fire Red,” which has also been referred to as the “Black Tongue,” is colorway that lacks complexity. It was back in 1990 when it originally made its retail debut, while it received the retro treatment several times, back in 2000, then in 2009 and finally in 2013. The recently released Air Jordan 5 Low “Fire Red” looks nearly identical, with the exception of the netting that is covered in black rather than being clear. While the upcoming Air Jordan 5 “Neymar” does not resemble an OG rendition of the model, it is perhaps the first time the entire uppers are made up of reflective 3M material.
In the past, international soccer superstars have never really received their own Air Jordan releases, but which makes the arrival of the upcoming Air Jordan 5 “Neymar” significance. Apart from an entirely reflective 3M uppers, Jordan Brand also took the classic “speckle” detailing and covered the uppers in them. Of course, this special edition also sports certain details that are specifically related to Neymar. For instance, the uppers have his #10 stitched onto them along with the usual “23.” Moreover, the latest photos reveal that the insole also featured a unique, combined Jordan and Neymar logo.
Even though a series of photos of the Air Jordan 5 “Neymar” have continued to surface over the course of the previous week or so, but Jordan Brand has not yet drops hints regard a potential release date. Even then, it is being rumored that this sneaker will receive an upcoming summer release.
