Jordan Releases 2016

Ever since being introduced as a Nike basketball shoe, Jordan Brand’s signature numbered series of sneakers has come a long way. 2016 is still underway and not even half way through, but that does not stop rumors about next year’s potential Air Jordan releases from circulating all around the web. One such rumor is that Spring 2017 will finally mark the comeback of the Air Jordan 15, considering that the Tinker Hatfield-designed model from 1999/2000 was never re-released. It is also being rumored that the Air Jordan 3Hornets” might return as a part of next year’s All-Star Weekend celebrations, with the 2017 NBA All-Star Game scheduled to be held in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Of course, Jordanheads are likely more concerned about and preoccupied with 2016 itself, especially considering that summer is gradually approaching and will be here by June. While it is more than obvious that Jordan Brand already has lots of plans in terms of the kicks they will drop for the hotter/warmer months that are ahead, but it seems like five particular releases will be the highlight of the season. These are the OVO x Air Jordan 12 “White,” the Air Jordan 4 Premium “Snakeskin,” the Air Jordan 11 Low “Cherry”, the Air Jordan 11 Low “Navy Gum,” and the Air Jordan 12 “Carolina Blue.”

jordan-brand-torontoThere is absolutely no doubt that the arrival of the OVO x Air Jordan 12 “White” is highly anticipated since it was unveiled two years ago in 2014. The last latest photo of the sneaker that was seen was the one shared by Serena Williams. The Air Jordan 4 Premium “Snakeskin” makes it obvious that Jordan Brand intend to continue with their trend of high-priced ($400), premium sneakers.

air-jordan-11-space-jam-2016-20th-anniversary-03The arrival of summer is also scheduled to mark the beginning of the Rio 2016 Summer Olympics and a colored drawing leaked in January revealed that Jordan Brand were already working on multiple Olympic-themed sneakers. By then, Jordanheads perhaps already knew about the Air Jordan 7Tinker Alternative,” which was featured in the drawing. It was recently revealed that the two Air Jordan 5 colorways seen in the drawing are also Olympic-themed. This leads to the assumption that even the “Gym Red” and “Grey” Air Jordan 12 iterations also visible in the drawing might be inspired by the coming Summer Olympics too.

In the recent years, the Air Jordan series has excelled over and surpassed the shoe industry and the sport of basketball itself. Even then, Jordan Brand have not fallen short of pleasing old-school Jordanheads, and they will hopefully draw in even more with their 2016 and 2017 Air Jordan releases.
