No doubt, 2015 had marked the comeback of the Air Jordan 1 High OG “Chicago,” but some portion of the previous year had also seemed like a campaign for the Air Jordan 1 Low OG to receive the retro treatment. Apparently, Jordan Brand intends to continue that campaign this year as well. In recent times, several OG colorways of the Air Jordan 1 hit the shelves once again in retro form, such as the “Bred,” “Royal” and “Shadow” iterations. It seems that the next Jordan release 2016 that will help continue this trend will be that of the returning Air Jordan 1 Low OG “Chicago.”
Dez Bryant, who is a Jordan Brand athlete and the wide receiver of the Dallas Cowboys, was the one responsible for providing the first look at the Air Jordan 1 Low OG “Chicago” last month. With the NBA All-Star Weekend approaching, many Jordanheads probably think that the Air Jordan 4 OG ’89 “White Cement” will be the most memorable sneaker release. However, it seems that the Air Jordan 1 Low OG “Chicago” will join the ranks.
Much like classic original colorway and the Air Jordan 1 High OG “Chicago,” this low-top version will feature the same Chicago Bulls-inspired “Bred” color scheme with a predominantly crisp White base. All of the overlays visible are dressed up in Red, while Black covers the inner lining, Jordan Wings logo on the heel, laces and Nike Swoosh. Much like its recently revamped predecessors, the OG Nike Air logo will also make an appearance on the tongue of this sneaker, so it will look like an exactly replica of its original counterpart from years ago.
While the alleged GS-exclusive “Valentine’s Day” colorway of the Air Jordan 12 is actually arriving in March, the Jordan release 2016 of the Air Jordan 1 Low OG “Chicago” will take place on February 14th. Therefore, it would not be too much of an understatement to consider it a Valentine’s Day sneaker release from Jordan Brand as well.
