Jordanheads may not know this, but Russell Westbrook is very picky about the Air Jordan retro kicks he rocks on the court. Basketball enthusiasts pay as much attention to the footwear that NBA athletes tend to sport on the court as much as they do to their actual performance, and Russell Westbrook is particularly amongst those athletes. While it is true that sneakerheads tend to get quite hyped whenever they spot the “Super Sonic” athlete rocking retro Air Jordan sneakers, they will not be witness him laced up in the Air Jordan 4 “Dunk From Above,” unless they are playing NBA 2K16.
Kicks On Fire did just that apparently by recreating the Air Jordan 4 “Dunk From Above” in the game, although it is not 100% accurate. Unlike NBA 2K15, the Air Jordan 4 base in 2K16 features generic perforated panels instead of the model’s signature netting. One of the reasons this iteration of the fourth Air Jordan model looks so casual is because of its gum rubber soles. In the game, the midsoles’ hue will take up even the area that is meant to be for the outsoles, so the gum rubber will only be visible on the toe.
The Air Jordan 5 Low from Jordan Brand’s “Dunk From Above” collection already made its retail debut on February 20th. Now, the date for the arrival of the other, second sneaker from the collection is almost here too. Jordanheads are likely aware that this navy blue and golden yellow and the already available Air Jordan 5 Low both drew inspiration from Michael Jordan’s impressive dunking abilities. Unlike the slightly inaccurate version from NBA 2K16, the sneaker is indeed equipped with side netting that is covered in white.
Nonetheless, Jordanheads are probably as excited to try recreating the sneaker in the game as they are to actually go cop a pair. They will only have to wait a little longer since it will be up for grabs at a price of $190 on March 19th.
